Steam Train Rides
Enjoy a 40-minute steam train ride along the Loop Line from historic Thirlmere Station. Ride behind a variety of locomotives across the weekend. Steam train rides depart Thirlmere Station throughout the day.
Huff N' Puff
Put yourself to the test against a steam train in the Huff N’ Puff road race at the Thirlmere Festival of Steam.
Tickets are $45.00 per person and include entry into the race, steam train ride to the starting line and entry into the NSW Rail Museum to enjoy after the race.
There will be a $250 prize for 1st and $150 prize for 2nd place for both male and female competitors. All race participants will receive a participation medallion.

NSW Rail Museum
The NSW Rail Museum comes to life with an array of steam, including several historic steam locomotives, live model steam engines, full-size and miniature steam traction engines and a display of vintage machinery. Plus, don’t miss roving performers, mini-train rides, railway art displays and more!
Amusement Rides + Carnival
Youngsters of all ages will find fun and entertainment with a range of amusement rides and display attractions to enjoy from 12pm - 9pm. There will also be a selection of carnival food trucks and treats.
Carnival Sensory Friendly Session
In support of adults, young people and children living with disability, we will be hosting a free Sensory Friendly session at the Festival of Steam Carnival on Saturday 18 March from 10.30am-12 noon.
