About the festival
For over 30 years, the annual Thirlmere Festival of Steam has marked the official opening of steam season. In 2024, the village will fire up once again for a weekend of family fun and entertainment - but this year taking pride of place in May as New South Wales' premier event for train enthusiasts and a fantastic family day out.
This year’s event is proudly brought to you by: Wollondilly Shire Council and Transport Heritage NSW, operators of the NSW Rail Museum.
About NSW Rail Museum
The NSW Rail Museum is the State's premier rail heritage museum.
Since 1975, the historic town of Thirlmere has been home to a significant rail heritage collection associated with the NSW railways.
The NSW Rail Museum brings rail heritage to life through heritage train rides, displays, exhibitions and education programs.
