Maps & Road Closures
Due to the need to keep the festival precinct safe for the public, certain roads need to be closed for the day. Alternative routes are being made available for vehicular traffic wishing to by-pass the area. Road closure notices have been located in the Thirlmere area indicating which roads will be closed on the day, and showing alternative routes for motorists. Certain roads will have temporary closure for the period of the Gala Parade.
Signs will also be erected on the day to show the precinct by-pass routes. Please pay strict attention to these notices. Road closure teams (provided by the Rural Fire Services) will be at all road closure points, with these teams having a list of all festival participants allowed into the area.
The maps below show the:
  • Road closures - Manned Road closures allow festival participants to enter the area, and will direct non-participants to other areas to park. Limited parking is available, so get in early, or an even better idea is to book on 3801 bringing a train from Sydney's central railway
  • The by-pass route - There is a festival precinct by-pass, that is shown on the traffic movement map, below, and please note the changes to local street, travel directions
  • The parade route - The parade will be held between 1.00PM - 2.00PM, with the only changes in traffic movement being the complete closure of Goodlet Street behind the Public School. The best way to go through the area at that time would be to follow Thirlmere Way / Station St along the rail line to Bargo River Rd at Couridjah, turn right across the rail line, turn right into West Parade / Barbour St, down the western side of the line to Close Street.
