Maps & Road Closures
Due to the need to keep the Festival precinct safe for the public, certain roads need to be closed for the day. Alternative routes are available for traffic wishing to by-pass the closed-road area. Road closure notices have been located in the Thirlmere area indicating which roads will be closed on the day, and showing alternative routes for motorists. Certain other roads will also be closed briefly for the period of the Gala Parade.
Signs will on the day will show the precinct by-pass routes. Please pay strict attention to these notices. Road closure teams (provided by local Rural Fire Service brigades) will be at all road closure points, with these teams having a list of all festival participants allowed into the area.
The maps below show:
-
Road closures - manned road closures allow festival participants to enter the area, and will direct non-participants to other areas to park. Limited parking is available, so get in early, or an even better idea is to catch the Thirlmere FlyerTM Sydney's Central Railway Station, also stopping at Padstow and Campbelltown
- The by-pass route - showing how to bypass the festival precinct as shown on the traffic movement map below. Please note the changes to local streets and travel directions
- The parade route - The parade will be held between 1 pm and 1.30 pm. During this period, Goodlet Street will be closed. The best way to bypass the area at that time is via Station St between Thirlmere and Couridjah along the eastern side of the railway line, crossing the railway via Bargo River Rd, Couridjah, and West Parade / Barbour Rd to Thirlmere.
